Stop Vaping Challenge is part of a University of Toronto study for understanding people’s experiences
with vaping over time. The app may collect the following data from its users:
- Personally identifiable information: email address only;
- Information about vaping over time; and
- Information about how the user interacts with the Stop Vaping Challenge app, including video
and photo entries.
Data collected will not be linked to your identity and may be used for research purposes by the Research
Team, including in future publications, reports, or presentations; and in making improvements to Stop
Vaping Challenge.
The Research Team at the University of Toronto is responsible for protecting your information and
upholding standard privacy practices in handling the data described above.
Participation in this study is completely voluntary. If you wish, you may withdraw from the study
anytime by sending an email to quitvaping.research@utoronto.ca with the subject line “I wish to
withdraw from Stop Vaping Challenge” using the email address you used to register on the app. Upon
receipt of the email, the Research Team will ensure that you and your data are removed from the data.
There are no known risks involved in participating in the study. On the other hand, benefits include
receiving evidence-informed support for vaping cessation. By taking in part in this study, you are also
helping us understand the process of vaping cessation, which will help a community of researchers and
clinicians provide better support in the future.
